Abstract: The objective of this project was to investigate the effects of pre-planting seed handling procedures on the growth, yield and quality of the new Oak Park-bred potato variety Rooster. Statutory regulations and increased sophistication in packaging and presentation by retail outlets require that ware potatoes comply with narrower tuber size specifications. Appropriate pre-planting seed handling procedures provides the grower with an opportunity to influence emergence, crop establishment, yield at early harvest, tuber size distribution and quality.
